Bill S-213 (Korean War Veterans Day Act), became an Act of Parliament in June 2013. Since then, Canadians have come together across Canada on July 27th to remember the selfless service and bravery of the more than 26,000 Canadians who fought in the Korean War, the more than 7000 who served in peace-keeping duties after the signing of the July 27th armistice, and the 516 Canadians who paid the ultimate sacrifice and never returned home.
The 8th annual Korean War Veterans Day marks the 68th anniversary of the signing of the armistice of July 27th, 1953. Although many ceremonies were smaller due to COVID-19 restrictions, Canadians stood united from coast to coast to coast to honour Canadian veterans, remember the fallen buried in the United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Busan, Korea, and ensure that the legacy of the Korean War is never forgotten.
