Senator Yonah Martin Commemorates Animals Who Fought in Wars

OTTAWA, ON – The Honourable Yonah Martin along with Mrs. Laureen Harper, Honorary Patron attended the unveiling of the Animals in War Dedication at Confederation Park.

They were joined by MP Royal Galipeau, NCC Chair Russell Mills, Jim Watson, Mayor of the City of Ottawa, war veterans and other invited guests.

The ceremony began with an RCMP service dog escorting the official party to their seats. AIW founder Lloyd Swick delivered opening remarks, followed by a Proclamation from Mayor Jim Watson and remarks from Presenting Sponsor Dr. Chung, Eminata Group. The ceremony included Musical accompaniment by the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces, as well as a special presentation by three young Canadians. Horses and their riders also participated in this special ceremony, which concluded with the release of doves to honour the animals who have served and who are currently serving in wars.
